Fresh CCTV footage on woman kidnapper

The portrait has already been sent to our teams camping in Gudur and Nellore to find the woman

Chennai: The government railway police (GRP) on Thursday obtained fresh CCTV footage which shows a much clearer picture of the woman who kidnapped three-year-old M. Sridhar from Central railway station last Sunday.

The portrait has already been sent to our teams camping in Gudur and Nellore to find the woman. Finding her is crucial to tracing the boy, said a GRP officer.

On Wednesday, teams rushed to Gummidipoondi after women from neighbouring villages contacted the cops saying that they sighted a boy, similar to the missing child, sipping juice from a shop there.

But they also told the cops that the woman was not there and the boy was alone. However, when cops reached the scene, the boy was nowhere to be seen.

Pictures of the boy have already been sent to the suburban railway stations along the Chennai-Nellore route. Cops are investigating if the present case is related to to the case at Central railway station where a six-month-old child was kidnapped by a woman on March 9.

In the present case, Sridhar came on a vacation to the city for the first time along with his parents Murugamuthu (37) and Radhi (28) and two elder brothers from Thoothukudi.

The family reached Chennai on Sunday morning and was waiting to board a suburban train at Central railway station to reach Washermanpet when the incident took place.
