Summer is already here and it’s time to ditch the dark shades and embrace the lighter hues. The Little White Dress aka LWD has been in rage for a while now, and here’s why we can’t stop raving about it.This season it’s all about LWD, a wardrobe staple that is incredibly versatile and can be worn in several ways. Isha and Namrata Rajpal of Rose Room Couture mention how celebrities are making a style statement by matching it with bold coloured accessories. The designer duo says, “We personally love Azzedine Alaïa LWD paired with Nancy Gonzalez green exotic skin bag and classic green peep toes from Christian Louboutin’s Spring Summer 2015.
Even the delicate lace from Emilio Pucci is another fabulous option for LWD. White lace dresses are a must in every girls wardrobe, and one can enhance them by wearing bright summer thin blazers in orange, yellow or softer colour like powder pink or peach. LWD can be teamed with thin denim waistcoats as well and a bright scarf to create a fun statement.”Rashi Verma, associate creative manager at Myntra, doles out some interesting styling tips to carry a LWD. She says, “Fabrics like chiffon, lace and rayon work best for a fit and flare silhouette. One can team a LWD with a pair of flat sandals, sling bag and a hat for a day look, or pair a full sleeve dress with some bling jewellery and heels for a party. Wear your LWD with hi-top sneakers and a cotton biker jacket for an uber chic look.”
When it comes to white dresses, fabrics like cotton or georgette would fit best for the day look, and for a formal evening affair nothing suits more than Neoprene, georgette with a hint of lace panel or net details.Designer Sakshee Pradhan of the label Schon gives her suggestion for the day and night look. She says, “For the day, opt for a breezy little white dress, hair pulled up in a messy bun/braid, with minimal make-up and accessories like a delicate neckpiece and cool flip flops to flaunt a feminine look. In the evening, go for a fitted little white dress, hair swept to one side, nude make-up with smoky eyes and minimal accessories like diamond studs paired with white/nude pumps to look sophisticated.”
The LWD in the midst of its renaissance is the coolest pick of the season, proclaims designer Babita Malkani. “A little white dress can be light, crisp and guarantees attention no matter what style you choose. One can go for sexy or flirty styles with fabrics like cotton, sheer or cotton silk. The silhouettes that look best can be halter or strapless and need minimum accessorising,” she adds.
