Yuvraj Singh doesn’t care about his critics

The Punjab left-hander said he was hitting the ball well and not bothered about the criticism

Mumbai: Yuvraj Singh’s 44-ball 57 was the silver lining in Delhi Daredevils’ five-wicket defeat at the hands of Mumbai Indians in the IPL at Wankhede stadium here on Tuesday. The Punjab left-hander said he was hitting the ball well and not bothered about the criticism.
“My job is to play cricket, critics’ job is to write. I don’t read or watch what comes out. I have been hitting the ball well getting few 20’s but not 35 plus scores. T20 is a small format and is tough for batsmen batting at 4-5. You want to win game for your side and have to go and start hitting from the first ball. Today I got some time as we lost some wickets and I could bat till the end,” he said.
Yuvraj rued the fact that his team couldn’t finish the game in their favour despite having Mumbai reeling at 40/4 in a chase of 153 before the second rain interruption. “We had them at 40 for four. We should have won the game from there, but we didn’t take wickets after the rain came. The wicket was gripping a bit at the start but because dew also set in, wicket became better. There was no spin, I think it worked to their advantage. No doubt they played well. I think Rohit and Rayudu played very well,” Yuvraj said.
Yuvraj still feels Delhi Daredevils’ playoff hopes aren’t completely over yet. “We got four games. It’s going to be tough, but is not impossible. Last year KKR won 6-7 games in a row to qualify for the last four and then went on to win the tournament. Anything is possible in cricket.”
Meanwhile, Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma admitted rain interruptions helped his team regain focus. “To be honest we were under pressure. The break helped,” he said.
