Goods worth lakhs of rupees were gutted in two separate fire mishaps in the city

BENGALURU: Goods worth lakhs of rupees were gutted in two separate fire mishaps in the city in Upparpet and Kengeri police station limits on Tuesday night.

In the first incident, a metal scrap factory situated in Nagarbhavi in Kengeri was gutted around 9.30 pm. The fire officials suspect electrical short circuit may have led to the incident. No casualty was reported as no employee was present at the time of incident.

According to the fire officials, the incident came to light after a call was made to control room about smoke emanating from the factory. Three fire tenders were immediately pressed into the service and it took nearly three hours for fire fighters to extinguish the fire. Material worth Rs 2 lakh were destroyed.

In the second incident a major fire broke out in Central Shopping Complex situated on K G Main Road city centre in Majestic late Tuesday. The fire came to light after someone alerted the police control room. Fifteen fire tenders were rushed to the spot and it took nearly four hours to put out the fire.

The fire officials are yet to ascertain the exact cause behind the fire. However, prima facie, they suggest that it was caused due to electrical short circuit.
