O Paneerselvam writes to PM Modi for RTE funds
Tamil Nadu CM said that state expects reimbursement amount of Rs 97 crore for Right to Education Act
Chennai: Chief minister O. Panneerselvam on Tuesday urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to intervene and look into the recent amendments made by the union ministry of human resource department as it hinders the objective of the Right to Education Act.In his letter to Modi, Panneerselvam said that Tamil Nadu is expecting a reimbursement amount of Rs 97 crores from the Centre to continue the project.
The Ministry of Human Resources Development wrote to all State Governments indicating that the reimbursement of expenditure incurred for 25% admissions in private unaided schools under Section 12(1)(c) of the RTE Act has been included under head of addressing equity issues in elementary education within the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan Framework.
