South Central Railway suspends bribe-taking cop

Action has been initiated against him on the basis of Discipline
Vijayawada: Following a report in Deccan Chronicle about a railway cop collecting ‘tips’ from vendors, the South Central Railway has suspended the cop who has been identified as Railway Protection Force head constable N. Venkata Rao.
A video of Mr Rao collecting bribes from vendors on platform number 7 of the Vijayawada railway station on April 29 was widely shared on social networking website Facebook.
“The general manager of SCR issued instructions to concerned officials of the Vijayawada Division to inquire into the matter.
An inquiry was conducted by S.R. Gandhi, the senior divisional security commissioner of Vijayawada. The cop who was seen collecting money from vendors on the platform was identified as N. Venkata Rao, a head constable in the RPF. He was immediately placed under suspension. Action has been initiated against him on the basis of Discipline and Appeal Rules”, a release from M. Umashankar Kumar, the chief PRO of the South Central Railway, Hyderabad, stated.
