Rahul Gandhi to spend night at tribal’s home in Telangana

Mr Gandhi asked the party leaders not to make arrangements for his stay at hotels during his visit to Telangana

ADILABAD: Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi may stay at a tribal’s home in Laxmanchanda mandal of Adilabad district during his visit to Telangana on May 10 and 11.

Mr Gandhi is visiting the district for the first time to console family members of farmers who committed suicide due to mounting debts and crop failure.

Congress president Sonia Gandhi had visited the interior tribal areas in the district to console families of adivasis who died of seasonal diseases in large numbers in 1998.

It is learnt that Mr Gandhi asked the party leaders not to make arrangements for his stay at hotels during his visit to Telangana.

Party sources say that Rahul Gandhi will visit Laxmanchanda, Vadyal and Rachapur villagers where farmer’s suicides took place in the recent past and console the family members of the deceased farmers. His padayatra will start from Vadyal village.

Telangana Pradesh Congress Party (TPCC) official spokes person Gosula Srinivas Yadav said tentatively schedule of the Rahul Gandhi’s Rythu Barosa yatra was confirmed and he will tour the five villages in Laxmchanda mandal.

He observed that people of this country were looking a different person in Rahul Gandhi now who responding quickly to issues affecting the people and his Rythu Padayatra in various states was reflecting this. Efforts are being made for Rahul Gandhi’s night stay at Lambada Thanda or Naikpod village.
