Mysuru Police Commissioner ‘Dynamic Dayanand’ does his rounds on bike

Mysuru: Mysuru Police Commissioner B Dayanand, nicknamed ‘Dynamic Dayanand’, for his exploits on the bike, his interest in climbing Chamundi Hills to keep fit and his interaction with people on social media, is now getting ‘dynamic’ in another area. He makes surprise checks on his police personnel, thundering in his ‘bullet’ in plainclothes.

Unlike many police commissioners who have served Mysuru in the past 25 years, except for Kempaiah who used his horse for the city rounds, the IGP and new Police Commissioner of Mysuru is making the city rounds in his ‘bullet’. Sporting a helmet and wearing casual clothes, he has been hitting the streets of Mysuru with his ‘bullet’, since the past one week. He has even given directions to his cops on wearing safety jackets and other matters.

When asked of his bike rounds, Dayanand told Deccan Chronicle, “It is always better to commute on your own, to get the true picture. It helps understand the city, interact with the people better and check the visibility of the policing in the city.”

When asked about his own safety in that expedition as officers of his rank usually move around with an armed escort, he said, “I know how to protect myself.” The new Commissioner, who is also keen on fitness, has made enquiries about climbing Chamundi Hills, which he plans to, for his fitness. And he is also looking out for a modern gym as there is only one gym for the police in Mysuru and it is very rudimentary.

“It is my dream to have a modern gym for our police in the city, with all the modern equipment,” he said. "In addition to Facebook and Twitter services which are in use, I also want to start a blog soon for all the updates on crime news," he said.
