Watch: The making of Anushka Sharma's character Rosie Noronha in 'Bombay Velvet'

The actress underwent singing training to get her facial expressions right

Mumbai: 'Bombay Velvet', based on historian Gyan Prakash's book 'Mumbai Fables', narrates the story of how the city in 60s became a metropolis against the backdrop of love, greed, violence and jazz music. A lot goes in finalizing the look of the characters as that shapes up the audiences perception about them. One really needs to get into the skin of the character to portray it on the big screen.

Anushka Sharma's transformation to Rosie Noronha was a bumpy ride. Be it her character’s mannerisms, passion or singing, Rosie is one character with a lot of layers. The behind-the-scenes video shows how Anushka underwent preparations to imbibe his mannerisms.

Ranbir plays Johnny Balraj in the film and is obsessed about his lady love Anushka and would go to any extreme to have her in his life in this romantic thriller set against the backdrop of the 60s Bombay.

Just a week before its big nationwide release on 15th May 2015, the film has run into some legal trouble. Much to the director's disappointment, the film has been given an 'A' certification for its violent scenes and language. If the CB has its way, a lot of young Ranbir-Anushka fans below the age of 18 might not be allowed to watch their favourite stars in action on the big screen.
