Upset 108 drivers threaten strike
Hyderabad: The 108 Employees Union has decided to go on strike from the midnight of May 7. While staging a dharna at the Indira Park on Monday, the drivers claimed that they had given a strike notice on April 20 but there was no response from the government or from the Emergency Management and Research Institute.
Therefore the upset drivers decided to hold a dharna to draw the attention of the government to their problems. Mahender Reddy, member of the 108 Employees Union, said, “We are going to wait for three days. If the government fails to call us for talks we will go on strike from May 7.”
The drivers want better conditions as they have been facing long working hours, irregular payments and also no hike despite signing an agreement with the company.
EMRI on the other hand states that it has not withheld salaries and the terms and conditions were finalised only after consulting the unions.
