Hyderabad police rescue abducted Sigma Cabs chief executive officer
Hyderabad: The CEO of Sigma Cabs was allegedly kidnapped by his business partner following a financial dispute. Five people forcibly took away Mr Ashwin Kumar from his office in an Innova car on Monday afternoon but the police intercepted the kidnappers’ vehicle in an hour.
The culprit, A. Sudama, and four of his aides were arrested by the police, who rescued the victim. Sudhama joined Ashwin in the venture one and-a-half years ago.
Sudama alleged that Ashwin owed him around Rs 70 lakh and had been avoiding him. However, Ashwin claimed that he only owed Rs 35 lakh.
The incident occurred at around 2.40 pm at the Sigma Cabs office at Rethi Bowli. “They came in an Innova car and approached him stating that they wanted to talk to him about financial matters. After a while, they forcibly took him to the vehicle and drove away,” said Asifnagar ACP Ghous Mohiuddin.
The employees of the company, who witnessed the incident, alerted the police. “After receiving information, we informed all other police stations and patrol vehicles. One of our checking parties stopped the vehicle and arrested the culprits,” said Langar Houz inspector Md. Javed.
The kidnappers tried to take Ashwin to Marredpally, where Sudama lives. After the police launched the search they could not come to the main roads to go towards Secunderabad.
“For an hour, they drove around Mehdipatnam trying to dodge the police. Before they could reach their destination we caught them,” an official said. A case for kidnapping and criminal intimidation was booked. Ashwin is a resident of Upperpally.
