Special Category Status to Andhra: Will Pawan Kalyan back
Actor Sivaji is on a fast unto death at Guntur for special status for Andhra. And while he has been getting good support from the public, not many film personalities who are connected to politics have shown support.
“I haven’t invited anyone personally, but I appeal to everybody that they should support the cause,” says Sivaji, adding that celebs don’t need to go to Guntur to support him. “They can tweet about it or put up status messages about special status for Andhra for everyone to know,” he says.
Though he hasn’t said anything publicly, Jana Sena founder Pawan Kalyan had tweeted a while back that the BJP government should give special status to AP. “If he joins me, the issue will gain strength,” he says.
“But I don’t want to appeal personally to anyone. If the Telugu people want to see Telugu films, they should have some money, which will happen only if the state gets special status. Otherwise the future is at stake and it will affect Telugu cinema,” he says.
Since most stars live in Telangana, if they support Andhra won’t the Telangana government get upset? Sivaji disagrees: “We are not against the Telangana government. You can’t live in fear. KCR is a nice person and I am sure he won’t target people for supporting a cause.”
