Alirajpur, Madhya Pradesh: A 31-year-old man was arrested on Monday for allegedly murdering his wife at their residence in Girala village over his affair with his sister-in-law, police said.
The incident occurred last night when Nasribai Chouhan picked a fight with her husband Dinesh over the latter's illicit relationship with her 18-year-old sister who has been staying with them, said Alirajpur police station in-charge Arjun Singh Mavi.
He said Dinesh wanted to marry Nasribai's sister, a class XI student, with whom he has established physical relations.
Dinesh and Nasribai used to fight over the matter and exchanged heated arguments last night, when he allegedly stabbed her with a sharp-edged weapon.
Police are investigating whether the murder was premeditated or at the spur of the moment.
