Deepika Padukone says that children need to strike a balance between being friendly and giving parents the respect they deserve. Talking about her relationship with her parents, she says, “I share a great equation with my parents.
My father and I share an emotional as well as friendly relationship. I can discuss everything with him. Although our relationship is very frank, we as children need to respect and obey them. Neither the father nor the daughter can obviously see the other in pain. I do not hide anything from my parents, and that is the respect I have for both of them. In the future, if my children decide to hide anything from me, I will feel sad.”
Talking about playing a Bengali girl in Piku, she says, “I speak a little Bengali in the film. In real life, I speak English most of the time while conversing with my family. I speak a little bit of Konkani too.” About shooting in Kolkata, she says, “People from Kolkata are really very accommodating and warm. They would never disturb us during shooting. And of course, I relished eating momos, churmur and Chinese food there.”
