NASHIK: An Army colonel raped a mentally-challenged daughter of a coat-maker. The victim’s family had recently vacated his house in Hadola slums and moved into a new flat opposite the colonel’s row house. He has four daughters. Assistant commissioner of police (ACP) Atul Zende said that the accused had been detained. “We have sent both the victim and the accused for a medical check-up. After reports are received, we will take further action. As the case is being investigated, we won’t be able to give out too many details,” he said.
Nashik MP Hemant Godse, who lives in Deolali Camp, said that he had directed the police to take the strongest possible action. “This incident is a black blot on humanity,” he said.
Speaking to the Deccan Chronicle, Deolali MLA Yogesh Gholap termed the incident “shameful”.
