Nashik: An Army colonel has been detained by the Nashik police following allegations that he raped a mentally-challenged woman in his row house in Deolali Camp area in Nashik district.
The police said it had detained Col. Vinod Sahani, 54, and is investigating the matter. The police said that the accused took the 21-year-old victim to his bedroom and raped her. The incident occurred on April 30 and the case was filed on Friday at around 11.50 pm by the victim’s older sister.
The victim lives in a flat, while the colonel lives in a row house opposite the flat. The victim’s father had recently bought the flat.
