Bengaluru: Two minors held for raping 6-year-old
BENGALURU: The police have booked two minors under POCSO Act for allegedly raping a six-year-old girl in Jayapura Doddi Village in Bannerghatta on Saturday morning.
While one of the accused was nabbed by the police while trying to flee, the other one escaped into the forest area. Both the accused are said to be studying in a nearby government school in Jayapura Doddi. The incident came to light around Saturday noon after the 10-year-old brother of the victim saw them commit the crime.
“The victim is a resident of HSR Layout. She had come on a vacation to Jayapura Doddi, along with her brother, to her grand parent’s house. On Saturday morning around 10.30 am, the victim along with her brother and the two accused, who are said to be around 16-year-old, went to play in a field. The two accused took the girl to an isolated place and allegedly raped her,” said Superintendent of Police, Bangalore Rural, B Ramesh.
When the victim’s brother went in search of her, he was shocked to find the duo committing the crime. He immediately rushed home to inform his grandmother about the incident. By the time, the grandmother rushed to the scene of crime, she saw the six-year-old coming towards her and narrated the ordeal.
An infuriated grandmother, along with neighbours, approached the police around 2 pm and registered a complaint. The police took the victim for a medical examination, where the rape was confirmed. They launched a manhunt and nabbed one of the accused near the field, while the other escaped.
The Bannerghatta police have registered a case and questioning the accused in this regard.
