More time for Ram Mandir reply
There is no parking facility, no drinking water and one has to walk a long distance to reach the temple
New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Friday granted more time to the Centre to respond to an application filed by BJP leader Subramanian Swami five years ago to provide proper facilities for pilgrims worshipping Lord Ram in Ayodhya temple at the disputed site by removing unreasonable restrictions.
A Bench of Justices Anil R. Dave and R.K. Agrawal extended the time till August 7 on a request from additional solicitor general Maninder Singh. In his application Dr Swami said there is no parking facility, no drinking water and one has to walk a long distance to reach the temple.
Further, while maintaining status quo in the temple construction, the UP government authorities had imposed unreasonable restrictions on devotees in the name of security to perform restricted worship. It said the right of Hindu devotees had been repeatedly affirmed by the Allahabad High Court. But still such facilities were not being provided.
