Video: Russian performs surgery on himself using ice as anasthetic on top of an icy mountain
Mountains can be very treacherous places to climb. Once up there, people find themselves cut-off from human civilization and are left at the mercy of nature.
In such inhospitable conditions and at icy heights it is nothing short of a nightmare to get injured. Worse still, if a person doesn’t find medical help, he is left at his own discretion with the elements.
In this video we see a Russian man atop a mountain in barren icy surroundings. The man who could only be identified as Che, was filming a documentary on the mountain. A fallen icicle had hurt him and caused a blood clot on his leg. Blood clots can be dangerous if unattended to and cause haemotoma. Che’s haemotoma had caused a huge swelling and left him unable to walk.
With nothing but ice around him and items from his first-aid kit Che proceeds to perform a surgery on himself. Che can be seen speaking in Russian and explaining how he performed the surgery.
A gas torch is used to sanitise the surgical instruments, which are a pair of scissors, a tent hook and thread. Hydrogen peroxide was used to clean the area, ice was used as an ansthetic as it can numb the neurons and the surgery was successfully done.
The video is extremely graphic. Viewers’ discretion adviced.
