Rana crowdsources help for Nepal
Before one starts to question Rana Daggubati’s ‘measly’ efforts to raise ‘only’ Rs 2,17,620 for earthquake victims in Nepal considering that he is one of the sought after actors in Tollywood, let’s not forget that something is better than nothing. Till now, most actors from the industry have only been putting up condolence messages on their social networking sites. But Rana has gone an effective step further by raising funds.
On a crowd funding website, the actor has created a campaign to help people in need. His profile reads: “Hello, I am Rana Daggubati. I am sure we are all devastated and saddened by the situation in Nepal as of now. Like you, even I feel helpless when it comes to man vs nature but, what we can do is make a contribution and help save the lives of the people who have been hit by this tragedy.
The funds raised will go to CARE INDIA who will be working with their team from CARE NEPAL and utilising the same to distribute survival kits to the affected in Nepal. The kits would include basic amenities for survival such as tarpaulin, mats, hygiene kit (soap, toothbrush, toothpaste, sanitary napkins, disinfectants) and blankets. Each survival kit costs Rs 5,000 and we are looking to raise funds for 40 such kits.”
The campaign that still has seven days left to go has managed to exceed its set target of Rs 2,00,000. With the help of 128 ‘backers’, the actor has managed to raise Rs 2,17,620. His act has also been commended on social media, where fans were seen lauding his efforts.
