Documentary film to be made on Godavari Pushkaralu
State to popularise the event through social media network and set up a website for the festival
Rajahmundry: State government advisor (Communications) Parakala Prabhakar said that a documentary film on Godavari Pushkaralu will be made involving the world renowned documentary film makers during the forthcoming event to showcase the rich history of the river Godavari and the Telugu culture and traditions to the world.
Taking part in a Meet the Press programme held under the aegis of AP Journalists Forum held on Wednesday, he said that the government is of the opinion to popularise the Godavari river which is known as Dakshina Ganga in South India similar to the way north Indians observe Maha Kumbh Mela in Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh.
He proposed organising ‘Godavari Sobha Yatra’ every year hereafter and said that as part of it, devotees take holy dip in Godavari river and collect some river water in ‘Kavali’ and take it to their villages and perform ‘Abhishekam’ to the Mulavirats of the local temple. He proposed offering Haarti to Godavari Mata every day.
He said, “We are going to take up a massive publicity drive for conducting Godavari Pushkaralu to draw the attention of the world community. We will use the social media network and set up a website and open accounts on social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter to give information about the event. We will not compromise on the quality of work being taken up and intend to carry out everything in a transparent manner. We will also ensure completion of the work expeditiously for the benefit of the visiting devotees. I appeal to the local people to provide hospitality to the visitors if possible in their houses for a few days.”
Though the Prime Minister Narendra Modi was informed about the Godavari Pushkaralu orally earlier, they were sending a written communication inviting the President, PM, Union ministers, Chief Ministers of many states and other leaders to attend the event.
