K Chandrasekhar Rao unveils plan to develop Hyderabad
Hyderabad: Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao came out with major schemes on Wednesday to develop Hyderabad as a “global city” and to make it clean and green.
The schemes with an outlay of Rs 1,000 crore are part of the ‘Swachh Telangana-Swachh Hyderabad’ initiative.
Under the ‘Swachh Hyderabad’ initiative to be launched on May 16, Hyderabad will be split into 400 divisions and an in-charge will be appointed for each division.
The Governor, CM, ministers, CS to MPs, MLAs and all other public representatives will be in-charges. They will monitor cleanliness in their divisions.
Mr Rao has decided to invite Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan, Union Minister Bandaru Dattatreya and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi for the launch.
Mr Rao directed officials to involve public representatives from all political parties and to ensure the programme remains “apolitical.”
Mr Rao has decided to hold a meet with the media on May 6 to seek suggestions for developing Hyderabad as a global city.
GHMC commissioner Somesh Kumar handed over the report drafted by officials on measures to develop Hyderabad. The proposals include development of areas on either sides of roads, setting up of vegetable markets, multi-level parking complexes and bus-bays.
Around 150 locations have been identified for vegetable markets, 80 for multi-level parking complexes and 136 for bus-bays.
