Good times are here for Amy Jackson, who made a disastrous Hindi debut opposite Prateik Babbar in Ek Deewana Tha. Looks like she is back in the Bollywood industry after having a signed Singh Is Bling opposite Akshay Kumar — after the original choice Kriti Sanon had date issues. Says a source close to the project, “Amy got this prestigious project after her well-received performance in the Tamil Vikram starrer I. Prabhu Deva suggested Amy’s name as Kriti’s replacement and she agreed immediately.” Amy plays the role of city girl in the film. “Amy has been taking kick boxing and salsa lessons for her part. The producers of Singh Is Bling want this to be her re-launch film. And Amy is going all out for it,” says a source.
Incidentally, there are several instances of leading ladies being re-launched after a disastrous debut. Mallika Sherawat whose debut Khwahish bombed, sparkled in Murder. And before her Sridevi and Madhuri Dixit’s debut films Solva Saawan and Abodh, respectively, fared poorly on the box-office. But they bounced back with Himmatwala and Uttar Dakshin. And, well, the rest is history.
