Deepika Padukone to star in Sriram Raghavan's adaptation of 'The Accidental Apprentice'

Mumbai: After the grand success of ‘Badlapur’, director Sriram Raghavan is ready to take on his next directorial venture, which is said to be an adaptation of the popular book ‘The Accidental Apprentice’ by Vikas Swarup.

According to a report in Absolute India, the director had already considered Deepika Padukone for the role and the actress is on board with the project.

Deepika has a number of projects lined up for this year including ‘Piku’, ‘Bajirao Mastani’, and ‘Tamasha’ and therefore hadn’t signed any films. However she was reportedly in talks with Sriram, who narrated the script to her, however the actress made a request to the director to complete the script before she made any commitment.

A source was quoted as saying, “Sriram has finally bought the rights of the popular book of famous writer Vikas Swarup and is working on the script. The film might go on the floors later this year or early next year. The film is going to be an adaptation of the book that has quite an interesting female character.”

The director also confirmed the news to the daily, and said, “We have got the rights but no actor has been signed yet. I am still writing the script.” However it has been revealed that Deepika is already on board with the project.
