GOOGLE INTERNSHIP: A walk-through of an intern with the tech giant
Working with a well-known company is a dream job every person wishes to be a part of. Individuals, who are enthusiastic about tech, may consider working at Google, Facebook, Twitter and Yahoo! as a golden opportunity.
So, to help you know what it’s like to work with the tech giant, Google, here are brief descriptions on what Google expects from its interns.
The tech giant appoints around 1,500 interns from almost 40,000 applicants each year. Applying for a full-time employee or intern begins with an online process. Working with Google means developing new communication and academic skills at the same time.
People from different career fields, such as engineering, army, web designers, software developers, marketing, etc, can work at Google. The company states that ‘having the passion and motivation to learn new things,’ is what makes its interns different. On the very first day, Google sends out a brainstorming message to its employees stating, ‘Don’t be afraid to succeed’. Interns at Google are also trained on how the data centres work, how the company functions, and what the company’s goals are.
MBA student Matt Malone, an intern with Google, stated that even interns are treated as regular employees and assigned product management projects. The tech giant also follows the principle of ‘Don’t be afraid to ask, because every assignment at Google is challenging.’ Creating codes as a Googler helps worldwide developers test the codes and explore several codes for product management. Several interns also support the University Programme’s team as they forge links between Google Engineering and the academic world.
