Rally taken out against Andhra Pradesh encounter in city

Chennai: The Tamilar Vaazhvuriumai Katchi organised a massive rally condemning the AP encounter in the city on Tuesday, which saw leaders from various parties coming together to express solidarity. Thousands of members of the Tamilar Vaazhvurimai Katchi across the city and from nearby districts headed by their leaded T. Velmurugan congregated near the Madras Race Course from where the rally started.
MDMK leader Vaiko, VCK’s Thol Thirumavalavan, CPI (M) MLA, R.Sundararajan, CPI leader M.Veerapandian, John Pandian of Tamilaga Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam and retired bureaucrat Sivakami IAS of the Samooga Samathuva Padai were among the dignitaries who participated in the rally.The rally which started at Madras Race Course near Raj Bhavan were stopped by the cops after a few meters.
Later, important leaders were allowed audience with TN Governor K. Rosaiah where Vaiko presented the three-point charter of demands, sources said.Party sources said that the leaders demanded a CBI inquiry into the encounter. Further they also sought the Governor to seek a motion with the Centre to dismiss the Andhra Pradesh Government and book their CM Chandrababu Naidu for murder.
Traffic was affected on Five furlong road for close to an hour as vans carrying cadres were parked on either side of the road, police said.
