300 number plates go missing
Hyderabad: Three hundred High Security Registration Plates (HSRP) have gone missing from RTO Uppal.
The plates, which are manufactured by a private agency, went missing from the HSRP counter and Road Transport Officer (RTO) authorities on Tuesday lodged a complaint at the Uppal Police station.
The HSRP number plates are maintained and managed by LinkAuto Tech Private Ltd. On Tuesday, morning when people who were awaiting their plates as per the scheduled date given to them, were turned back by officials of the agency, saying that the number plates could not be found.
A few of the applicants informed about the missing number plates to the RTO, Uppal who in turn lodged a police complaint.
Although, the missing number plates can be used for criminal purposes, officials think that it is the work of some insider from the agency and are hoping to recover the same.
The agency is responsible for taking orders for the HSRP, manufacturing and even affixing the plates on the vehicles. The embossed plates, once ready, are stocked at the counters provided at the RTOs.
“We suspect the hand of an insider from the agency and a formal complaint has been lodged. The police will carry out an investigation,” said RTO Uppal, Mr Vijaya Rao, who lodged the complaint.
