With govt set to complete 2 yrs, CM assures a hunger-free state

Hubballi: Expressing satisfaction over the achievements of his government ahead of the completion of two years in office next month, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said he has fulfilled more than hundred promises out of 165 made by the Congress before coming to power in the State.
Speaking after inaugurating various development works in Hirekerur of Haveri district on Tuesday, he said his government is committed to make Karnataka a hunger-free State. Reiterating that free rice will be given to all below poverty line families from next month, he said edible oil and salt will also be given at concessional rates to the poor.
Elaborating on the various welfare measures taken up by the government to uplift the Dalit community, Siddaramaiah claimed that he has taken revolutionary measures to allocate funds for them on the basis on their population. Stating that government has earmarked Rs 16,830 crores for scheduled castes and tribes, he warned that criminal cases will be lodged against officials who failed to utilize them completely before the fiscal year ends.
The chief minister also said that the state government has provided more incentives for inter-caste marriages to bring about social equality.
