‘Failure is good for me’

'hen I saw Sudheer Varma’s Swamy Ra Ra, I liked it' - Naga Chaitanya

Like Nagarjuna in his heyday, son Naga Chaitanya experiments with form and storyline in his movies. In Dohchay, he debuts a new genre, a crime comedy. The actor reminisces about his introduction to Hollywood crime capers. “I have watched con films right from childhood, especially those from Hollywood”, he says and shows his cautious side as he adds, “I wanted to do a con film in the beginning of my career, but had doubts whether the audience would accept it.”

Explaining his decision to enter this genre, he says “When I saw Sudheer Varma’s Swamy Ra Ra, I liked it. And I was confident that I would like his way of handling a similar subject.”

Naga Chaitanya adds, “This subject is fresh for me, but I was confident that the audience today is open to new subjects, and that is why I attempted this film.” He added that he is happy about it now, although it got a mixed response in the beginning. One of the radical elements in the movie is that the female lead, played by Kriti Sanon, is portrayed as a smoker.
