Yuvraj Singh clicked with ‘suspected bookie’ Karan Gilhotra

Gilhotra socialises a lot with bureaucrats, Bollywood celebrities and even cricketers

Mumbai: The war between the Board of Control for Cricket in India and the International Cricket Council (ICC) has turned bitter after Indian cricket governing body’s secretary Anurag Thakur shot off a stern letter to ICC chairman N Srinivasan after Thakur’s images with a ‘suspected’ bookie Karan Gilhotra were made public.

However, Thakur is not the only one to have been clicked with Gilhotra. The Indian Premier League’s most expensive buy Yuvraj Singh has also been photographed with Gilhotra. According to media reports, Gilhotra socialises a lot with bureaucrats, Bollywood celebrities and even cricketers. If that’s not all then there’s also a picture of B-Town superstar Salman Khan with the alleged bookie.

So who is Gilhotra?

Hailing from Chandigarh, businessman Gilhotra loves living a flamboyant life as a busy socialite. A few years ago, Gilhotra, the son of a state council Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) member, had even made it to the Limca Book of Records for being the youngest sarpanch.

But after Srinivasan’s allegations, the world came to know Gilhotra as an alleged bookie by the ICC’s Anti Corruption and Safety Unit (ACSU) for his proximity to players during the Indian Premier League last season.

That’s how he likes to live his life, mostly being in good company, Gilhotra has been spotted with the country’s top industrialists and is known to host lavish parties at his residence and five-star hotels with bigwigs from the judiciary, bureaucracy, politicians and other white collar personalities from the northern parts of the country.

Recently, he hosted a Celebrity Cricket League (CCL) match in Chandigarh which saw in attendance various actors from Bollywood including Sunil Shetty, Sohail Khan and Bobby Deol. Gilhotra was a promoter of the CCL team Punjab de Sher. In the final match at Chandigarh, he was seen sitting next to Haryana governor Kaptan Singh Solanki and producer Boney Kapoor.

Gilhotra’s name came into the spotlight after and more so, in the ICC’s radar in May 2013 after cricketer S Sreesanth was allegedly caught on camera with a girl at a five-star hotel in Chandigarh.

The former also is known for running a Honda agency in Chandigarh and Fazilka, besides owning a franchise of Salman’s clothing chain Being Human.
