Make Dr G Parameshwar Karnataka CM: Suspended Congress MLA
Bengaluru: Playing the Dalit card to the hilt and hitting out at his political opponents, suspended Congress legislator, A. S. Patil Nadahalli on Monday questioned angrily why the party had not acted those who played a pivotal role in defeating Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee president, Dr G. Parameshwar and why the Congress Legislature party hastened to act against him so soon after the notice period ended.
Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, Mr Nadahalli said, “This is the right time to fight to get a Dalit CM for the state. Dr Parameshwar was the one who led the party to victory in 2013 and not Chief Minister, Siddaramaiah. He was one among many leaders who contributed to the party’s victory in the 2013 Assembly elections.”
He said he was not worried about his suspension from the CLP as it helps him to speak his mind. “I am greatly influenced by three great social reformers Basava, Buddha and Babasaheb Ambedkar, who strove hard to get social justice. As am influenced by these three great reforms, I have the courage to speak that a Dalit should become Chief Minister of this state and that too only during this time,” he declared.
According to him, there was nothing wrong in proposing Dr Parameshwar for CM he is a proven leader who ensured the party’s victory in spite of his loss in the Assembly elections. “I am still not able to digest the fact that Dr Parameshwar was defeated by our own party’s vested interests, that too when he was deeply involved in strategizing for the victory of the party in 2013,” Mr Nadahalli stated.
The MLA revealed that in his reply to KPCC president, Dr Parameshwar he had only stated that he had committed no wrong by highlighting the plight of the region which he hails from. “I have only aired problems being faced by people and the region by stating that the state government had not released funds adequately for development. If raising a development issue is anti-party so be it,” he stated. He added that he had not made unparliamentary comments against the Chief Minister.
Call special meet on North karnataka: A.S. Patil Nadahalli
Suspended Congress legislator, A.S. Patil Nadahalli on Monday shot off letters to all floor leaders as well as Chief Minister, Siddaramaiah and Speaker, Kagodu Thimmappa to convene a 30-day special legislature session in Belagavi to deliberate on problems faced by north-Karanataka region.’
In his letter, Mr Nadahalli reminded Mr Siddaramaiah who took part in the Congress Nadige Krishaneya Kadige rally that it was a huge success as he had promised to complete all irrigation projects within five years after the Congress comes to power.
“Ironically in the last two years, the state government has not made any effort to fulfill its promise. It has become all the more important to convene a legislature session. Apart from this, the state had also failed to implement Article 371J in Hyderabad-Karnataka region. This being a gross injustice to the people of north Karnataka, the Speaker Kagodu Thimmappa should convene a 30-day special session to deliberate on many issues related to our region,” the letter stated.
