Telangana shows up at TRS public meet
Hyderabad: A sea of humanity descended on Parade Grounds in Secunderabad on Monday for the public meeting organised by the TRS.
People from all 10 districts of Telangana turned up in huge numbers for the first public meeting organised by the TRS after Telangana State was formed.
All roads leading to the venue were choked with vehicles. Thousands of vehicles from districts including RTC buses, private buses belonging to travel agencies and educational institutions were pressed into service to transport public.
TRS leaders vied with each other to arrange vehicles like cars, SUVs, cabs etc to transport public.
Ministers T. Harish Rao, K.T. Rama Rao, T. Padma Rao, Talasani Srinivas Yadav and Deputy CM Mohd. Mahmood Ali came to the venue by taking out padayatras with thousands of activitsts from various locations in the city.
This enthused TRS supporters and public, who joined the ministers in the padayatra rasing “Jai Telangana” slogans. Thought the turnout was lower in the ground till 4 pm due to scorching heat, it surged all of a sudden and by 6 pm, the entire ground was jam-packed.
TRS MLA and Telangana Dhoom Dhaam artiste Rasamayi Balakishan and his troupe consisting of over 200 artistes enthralled the audience with their folk songs for over two hours to enthuse the public.
At one stage, Mahbubnagar MP A.P. Jithender Reddy and industries minister Jupally Krishna Rao shook a leg on the stage much to the delight of artistes and public, who cheered them with claps.
Women felt happy at the organisers setting up special blocks for them in the ground. They turned up in large numbers by carrying bathukammas on their heads.
After the meet people compared it to the “Sammakka Sarakka jaatara” held at Medaram in Warangal every year where lakhs of devotees converge to celebrate the event and the TRS meeting was no different from it due to the cultural programmes organised there.
