Hyderabad: A division bench comprising Chief Justice Kalyan Jyoti Sengupta and Justice P.V. Sanjay Kumar of the Hyderabad High Court on Monday directed the AP government keep in abeyance of GOs issued by it to facilitate anywhere registration (Online Registrations) treating the whole of state of AP as one district except the agency tracts.
The bench was dealing with a petition by Devender Kumar of Krishna district challenging the decision of the government in declaring the whole state as one district to facilitate online registrations by appointing the additional inspector general of Registration Stamps as Registrar for the AP district for the purpose of anywhere registration.
E. Manohar, senior counsel appearing for the petitioner contended that the decision of AP was violative of the provisions of the Indian Stamp Act and Registration Act. He said that the whole state could not be treated as one district for the purpose of anywhere registration through executive orders.
The bench found that without amending the main Act, the state has taken the decision through an executive order and directed the government to keep in abeyance the GOs issued in February 2015 in this connection.
TD MLA convicted of contempt
A division bench comprising Chief Justice Kalyan Jyoti Sengupta and Justice P.V. Sanjay Kumar of the Hyderabad High Court on Monday imposed punishment on Madhava Naidu, TD MLA of Narsapur, West God-avari, in a contempt case.
When the matter came up for hearing on Monday, the MLA’s counsel K Chidambaram said that his client has filed an affidavit expressing apology. Not satisfied with contents of the affidavit, the bench convicted the MLA and imposed a fine of Rs 1,000.
