Yogeshwar Singh collapsed during test, cardiac arrest suspected
SRINAGAR: A youth died during an Army recruitment rally in Jammu and Kashmir’s mountainous district of Doda on Monday, police said adding the cause of the death could be a massive cardiac arrest.
In neighbouring Reasi district, five people, including a policeman and a woman, were injured in clashes during an Army recruitment rally, reports said. Police said, Yogeshwar Singh, 26, collapsed while undergoing screening test at a recruitment rally of Territorial Army (TA) in Doda. Officials said that police has registered a case and taken up investigations.
The Army has been holding recruitment rallies in six districts of Jammu and Kashmir to fill 1,305 vacancies in the Territorial Army. Defence spokesman S.D. Goswami said, “More than 5,000 candidates have turned up at each rally sites.”
As a result, at places chaos broke out as aspirants rushed towards the entrance in large numbers while those rejected started pushing each other on the way out, police and witnesses said.
