Maoists strike in Agency again
Two tribals of Guttikoyina community killed in Yetapaka
Rajahmundry: Maoists are on prowl once again and they killed two tribals branding them as police informers at Kamanathogu of Yetapaka mandal in East Godavari Agency in the wee hours on Monday.
The Maoists of Sabari Area Committee caught hold of two tribals identified as Madivi Chukka, 25, and Madivi Joga, 28, hailing from Kanama-thogu of Murumuru panchayat in Yetapaka mandal in East Godavari, and beaten them to death with sticks on the charges that they were serving as police informers. Earlier too, they killed another tribal identified as Podium Nadugu, 55, hailing from Allivagu village of Eudugurallapalli panchayat in Chinthoor mandal on the same pretext.
The Rampachodavaram Agency police maintain that these tribals belonging to Guttikoyina community were the migrants from Chhattisgarh and are staying in the forest areas of newly merged mandals from Khammam into East Godavari. Both Chhattisgarh and East Godavari are having a common border spread over about 40 km distance.
These tribals arrive in the forest area of the common border and clear the bushes and establish habitations. As they do stay in the interiors of the forest areas, there will be no interaction with the local tribals and the general public in the plains.
Following the brutal killing of the two tribals, the police intensified their combing operation in the Agency area on the lookout for the striking Maoists. The police suspect that Sabari Area Committee led by Nagesh from AP resorted to the heinous crime on the innocent tribals.
The police say that the tribals from Guttikoyina community stay in the interior forest areas and they do not know even the local language and they hardly come in contact even with local tribals and people. They ruled out the tribals serving as informers to them. Rampachodavaram ASP Dr Fakeerappa Kagineeli who inspected the scene of offence in the interior forest area said, “The Maoists are resorting to such heinous crime targeting the Guttikoyina tribals branding them to be police informers.
