Now, a day to check your plaint status
The department will observe it on the last Saturday of every month between 11 am and 1 pm
BENGALURU: To bring in more transparency and make Bengaluru police more citizen friendly, the city police launched their first 'Complainants’ Day' on Saturday. The department will observe it on the last Saturday of every month between 11 am and 1 pm. Complainants can approach police stations and seek details of their pending cases.
Additional Commissioner of Police (West) Alok Kumar said, “We had received many queries from citizens on the status of their cases. To allow citizens to check the status of pending cases, we came up with Complainants’ Day. Citizens can get first-hand information on the progress of the cases or whether chargesheets had been filed. They will have one-on-one interaction with inspectors, who will then submit a report to their divisional DCP.”
All the four police divisions, Central, West, North and South, observed the Day on April 25, and many citizens sought details of the pending cases. Mr Sandeep Patil, DCP Central, who was present at the Cubbon Park police station during the police-public meet, told Deccan Chronicle, “We received a tremendous response on the first day of the Complainants Day. Complainants were happy with the initiative and looked satisfied after the police guided them as to how they have to go further in their respective cases.” After collating details on pending cases, a comprehensive report will be submitted on April 27 to Mr Alok Kumar by the four area divisional DCPs.
