PM said that India will make all-out efforts to help the people of quake-hit Nepal

New Delhi: Stepping up its massive relief and rescue operation in quake-hit Nepal as part of “Operation Maitri” both by air and road, India on Sunday deployed over two dozen aircraft and helicopters along with nearly 1,000 trained National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) personnel and said the situation in the Himalayan nation was “very, very serious”.

Over 1,000 people have been flown to India from Nepal since the earthquake struck. The government on Sunday announced a Rs 6 lakh compensation for the kin of those killed in India due to the earthquake as Prime Minister Narendra Modi took stock of the rescue and relief operations at home and in Nepal and held a meeting attended by other top Cabinet ministers.

The Prime Minister on Sunday said India will make all-out efforts to help the people of quake-hit Nepal and wipe their tears in this hour of crisis, giving priority to saving the lives of those who might be buried under the debris.
