iPass in Telangana set to approve new industries in 30 days

Rama Rao said the government was building state-of-the-art Pharma City and Textile Park
Hyderabad: IT minister K.T. Rama Rao on Saturday said that the government’s new iPASS system mandates approvals for industries within 30 days and two companies had been given approvals in record time. “We are conducting trials since the last two months, and are confident that all approvals can be accorded within the mandated 15 or 30 days as we had visualised,” Mr Rama Rao said.
“There are 25 projects that have been approved in 30 days including MRF and Amazon. All approvals are based on self-certification and we want to show that we want to trust our industrial investors. This is a major shift in mindset for any government. That is why the iPASS Act talks about the right to single window services,” said the minister.
Mr Rama Rao said the government had set up a task force to review the taxation structure to suit the needs of industry, if required.
He said the government was building state-of-the-art Pharma City and Textile Park, and three industrial corridors were planned to be set up.
Speaking about power supply, he said the situation would be quite comfortable by the end of 2016. In another year, the state would become power surplus. “We need not worry unduly about the power situation. Water is another requirement for industry. We have prioritised and a decision to reserve 10 per cent of all water reservoirs for industrial use has been taken,” Mr Rama Rao said.
He said that water supply would be made part of the the Water Grid project. “We will ensure that the industrial parks that will come up on government land have the best infrastructure. We want to offer plug-and-play facilities, so that the investor can begin his civil work as soon as land allotment is made. Industrial worker housing will form part of the industrial park master plan,” said the minister.
