House panel pulls up staff for inaction on erring coops

KCR accepted the demand of MLCs and ordered two house panels
Hyderabad: The House Committee probing irregularities in cooperative housing societies on government lands in Telangana pulled up officials for their failure to take action against erring societies and recommended to the government to appoint special officers in such places immediately. Pending completion of the probe, the panel recommended to the government to stop registration of plots in such societies facing the probe and to provide a senior IAS officer besides two legal experts to assist the panel.
It asked officials to submit original plans, extent of land allotted, list of members, names of bogus and ineligible members and other details of all the societies under probe before a field trip to societies.
The House Committee which met under the chairmanship of A. Ramesh for the second time on Saturday and was attended by nine members out of 13, decided to inspect Film Nagar Cooperative Housing Society, Jubilee Hills Cooperative Housing Society, Nandagiri Hills Coop Housing Society and Venkateswara Cooperative Housing Society in the city besides five other societies soon. The panel condemned harassment of Dr Kiranmayee, additional registrar of cooperative societies, who was transferred to Warangal, on disciplinary grounds on Friday.
MLCs had raised the irregularities in various housing societies in the Legislative Council based on Dr Kiranmayee’s reports including Film Nagar and TNGOs colony. The Chief Minister, K. Chandrasekhar Rao accepted the demand of MLCs and ordered two house panels, one against cooperative housing societies to which government lands were allotted and another on Wakf properties last year.
