CBI to probe into the mysterious death of a teenage girl in a private medical college
Chennai: Having lost faith with the CB-CID sleuths in conducting a probe relating to the mysterious death of a teenage girl in a private medical college in Puducherry, the Madras high court has ordered the transfer of the case to the CBI.Justice P.N. Prakash has transferred the case as the Union Territory of Puducherry has been stonewalling every attempt by petitioner, S. Kayalvizhi, mother of the deceased, for a fair investigation into her daughter’s death and the CB-CID’s investigation does not inspire confidence.
During the course of investigation, if the CBI finds that the local police and CB-CID have connived to protect the offenders, the CBI shall take appropriate action against them, the judge added.The judge said, “The distraught mother is knocking on the doors of this court for the fourth time, seeking justice, to unravel the mystery behind her dear daughter’s death.”
Priyadharshini joined the MBBS course in Manakula Vinayagar College at Puducherry in 2008 and she was a hostelite, as her mother appears to hail from Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh.
On May 17, 2012, around 8.45 am, Kayalvizhi received a phone call from Nandhini, a friend of Priyadharshini, who informed her that Priyadharshini died and asked her to rush to Puducherry. According to the college authorities, Priyadharshini committed suicide inside her room and claimed that they found her hanging. After conducting enquiry, the revenue divisional officer suggested interrogating Pradeep, who was in contact with Priyadharshini.
