Sameer safely parked his car on the side of an open street for a while, so that he could pull out some money from a nearby ATM. When he came back in around 15 minutes, he was shocked to see that his vehicle was nowhere in sight. Fearing that his vehicle could have been stolen, he asked around the neighboring shopkeepers if they saw his car at the spot. He later found out that his car was actually towed away as he parked it in a no parking zone. He was delighted to know that it wasn’t stolen, but just towed away. However, he lost time searching for the place where the vehicle was taken as he was new to the area.
Sadly, this is the case with most vehicle owners in the city. Finding the location of your towed vehicle is difficult is you are new to the area. But did you know that WhatsApp can come to your immediate rescue? Well, if you are in Delhi, the social media app can save your day.
The Delhi Traffic Police has started a new facility for vehicle owners to find their towed vehicle, using WhatsApp, the most commonly installed app on a smartphone. All you need to do is send a message to the number 8750871493 and they will reply back with the status, a phone number and the location of the car.
Initially, the WhatsApp number was used for filing traffic violations and resolving traffic-related issues. However, after a few months of success, the Delhi Traffic Police have found that the same facility could benefit distressed commuters seeking their towed-away vehicles. The facility is presently available only in Delhi and we hope it is started by the traffic zones in the rest of the country.
