Hyderabad: The boy Vamshi who died after being hit by a ball while he was fielding, was playing with his friends at 6 pm, in the parking area of the apartment with his friends including Bhavadeep, Sai Chandra, Karthik and Pranay, all aged between 6 and 7 years.
A 12 year old boy who is also from the neighbourhood joined them during the game and came on to bat. Sources said, the juvenile hit a six in the first ball. Later, a powerful shot played by him went on to hit Vamshi straight on the chest. “Vamshi was fielding in a close-in position. A hard tennis ball hit him on his chest and he suddenly collapsed on the field. Some onlookers immediately took him to a nearby hospital where doctors after examining declared him brought dead,” Vanasthalipuram inspector P. Gopala Krishna Murthy said.
Based on a complaint from Vamshi’s father Govinda Raju on Thursday night, a case under section 174 of the CrPC was booked and being investigated. “The victim’s family claimed no foul play and held nobody responsible. It’s considered to be an accident. All angles will be investigated. We are collecting evidence,” Mr Murthy said.
