Karnataka High court relief for CBI Additional Director
BENGALURU: Additional Director of the CBI, R.K. Dutta on Thursday secured a stay for ten weeks from the high court on the proceedings against him with regard to a private complaint filed before a magistrate court.
The complainant Mallesh had claimed that Mr Dutta, an IPS officer, during his tenure as Lokayukta ADGP, had enrolled for a three-year law course without seeking permission from the state government to pursue the course. It was further alleged that the officer misused his official position when it came to course attendance. Mr Dutta had approached the high court, seeking quashing of the proceedings against him.
The complainant, had earlier approached the Lokayukta court with similar charges, but the court dismissed the petition on the ground that the case did not fall under its purview.
Later, Mr Mallesh approached the magistrate court and the court ordered the police to probe the matter.
The advocate for the officer, M. Krishnappa, sought a stay following which Justice A.N. Venugopala Gowda stayed the proceedings for ten weeks, and ordered issue of notice to the state government.
