Hyderabad high court allows farming in Andhra Pradesh capital
Hyderabad: Justice A. Rajasheker Reddy of the Hyderabad High Court on Thursday directed the AP government to take a decision in accordance with the rules framed under the CRDA Act and communicate the same to farmers who made representations raising objections against pooling their lands to develop the new state capital.
The judge granted the interim order in a batch of petitions by the farmers of Guntur district who submitted that the authorities were going ahead with their plans without deciding on their representations.
The petitioners complained that they were not allowed to raise crops in the agriculture lands to be acquired under the land pooling scheme of the AP Capital Region Development Authority Act, 2014.
They contended that the authorities were making efforts to interfere with their property without considering their objections. The judge directed the CRDA officials to adhere to those rules. While adjourning the case, the judge made it clear that the farmers are entitled to go to their fields and carry out farming in the meantime.
