Farmers use smart phones to complain

Nearly 2,000 of them sent their grievances through Blackberry and iPhone handsets
Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh farmers seem to have become tech-savvy. Over 14,000 farmers from 13 districts have submitted their grievances ‘online’ to the state government.
Nearly 2,000 of them sent their grievances through Blackberry and iPhone handsets. Andhra Pradesh state planning board vice-chairman Kutumba Rao said that in all 80,000 grievances were received from farmers complaining that they were yet to get crop loan redemption (crop loan waiver). Of the total 80,000 grievances, as many as 17,000 farmers came to the Secretariat and lodged complaints in person.
A large number of ryots also posted their grievances. The government is setting up grievances cells in every district collectorate so that farmers can lodge complaints in person in their respective district head quarters. “They don’t need to come to Hyderabad and can lodge their complaints in the district collectors offices,” agriculture minister, P. Pulla Rao said.
