TRS plenary begins, chicken back on menu

Eleven resolutions, which have been cleared KCR, would be adopted at the plenary

Hyderabad: The TRS will hold its first plenary in Telangana at the Lal Bahadur Stadium on Friday. Arrangements have been made for 40,000 delegates. Eleven resolutions, which have been cleared by party president and Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, would be adopted at the plenary. The re-election of Mr Rao as the party chief would also be announced on Friday.

Traffic police has imposed curbs on vehicle movements on roads leading to LB stadium. The resolutions deal with welfare schemes, Centre-state relationship, health, industry, IT sector, Mission Kakatiya and Water Grid, among others.

Chicken, mutton, egg, pachipulusu, mamidikaya pappu, Badshah sweet and other Telangana cuisine will tickle the palate of TRS delegates attending the plenary on Friday.

About 20 items are being served including chicken curry, mutton curry, and egg curry during the working lunch hosted by the party at Nizam College grounds, near the plenary session at Lal Bahadur Stadium.

TRS floor leader and in-charge of food committee A.P. Jitender Reddy dismissed fears about bird flu and said chicken curry along with other items would be served to about 50,000 guests including delegates and party leaders.

“We checked out with various poultries and also obtained reports. Chicken and eggs are safe to consume. Only, one poultry shed was affected. There is absolutely no fear about bird flu. We are going ahead with serving chicken. It was on the menu and it will be on tomorrow’s menu,” Mr Reddy said.

He, however, hastened to add that keeping in view the summer heat the committee decided not to serve biryani. “It will be a typical working lunch of Telangana,” he said.
