Zoya’s promotion plan works
For her upcoming film Dil Dhadakne Do, Zoya Akhtar decided to take a slightly different approach as compared to her contemporaries. Instead of having a grand trailer launch for the film, the director hosted a trailer screening.
Said a source, “Zoya kept the first screening of the trailer at her house, where she invited her friends and family. Everyone who saw the trailer took to social media to talk about it. A day later, a screening was held at Anil Kapoor’s house and there, too, everybody shared their excitement over social media. On the day the trailer went live online, Ritesh Sidhwani gathered the cast of the film (barring Anushka and Farhan) to watch the trailer. The idea was to create a buzz online before the trailer was open for all to see.”
The plan seems to have worked because within a week, the trailer has garnered over three million views on YouTube.
