Meet Aamir Khan’s on-screen daughter
The makers of Dangal have finalised actresses to play Aamir Khan’s daughters in the sports biopic. The film is based on the story of Mahavir Singh, who trained his two daughters to become world-class wrestlers, who later went on to bag silver and gold medals at the Commonwealth Games.
Sanya Malhotra and Fatima Shaikh have been signed on to play the two sisters Babita Kumari and Geeta Phogat respectively. The girls had to apparently go through rigorous rounds of training and auditions to bag the roles.
Says a source, “Sanya Malhotra, who was selected personally by Aamir Khan’s team, was a student of Gargi College, Delhi University. She is a trained ballet dancer and is known to have participated in and won many college dance competitions. She has earlier, appeared in advertisements with Bollywood biggies such as Amitabh Bachchan and Ranbir Kapoor.”
According to our source, Sanya has been asked to stay away from the limelight till the time the film goes on floors, which is by the end of the year. “She has to undergo intensive training to portray the looks and mannerisms of a wrestler,” says the source.
A Delhi girl, Sanya Malhotra has been staying in Mumbai for over a year, chasing Bollywood dreams.
