‘She Taxis’ set to take on new roads
KOZHIKODE: Kerala’s “She Taxis” are set to expand to states like Delhi, Maharashtra Tamil Nadu and Karnataka.
The project initiated by the Gender Park under the social justice department is known for its specially designed cabs with safeguards for women travellers.
“Besides the ‘She Taxi,’ GCabs and Priyadarshini are also scripting success stories in other States with women-only cabs,” said She Taxi CEO P. T. M. Sunish.
“But it is the She Taxi that is getting an overwhelming response from people around the countr and requesting that these vabs be available in their cities too”.
Talking about the journey of the She Taxi, project coordinator K. Lijin said: “Last year when She taxi was launched in the State with a fleet of 40 pink cabs run exclusively by women for women, we were just starting off but now we have got an idea on how to spread the idea to every nook and corner of the state”.
Phase II of the project has planned at operationalising 25 She Taxis in Kozhikode and other districts, before making its way to other states in the country.
“After meeting the existing requirements in the State, we will be moving out to other States,” she added. She taxi Services will be available at major hospitals, schools, colleges and the Airport.
