Bhadradri sits comfortably
Water from Taliperu project can be used for Bhadradri if needed
Khammam: Though there was little water in Godavari at present at Bhadrachalam, the Central Water Commission officials are assuring that sufficient water will be available in the river at the time of Pushkaralu to be commenced from July 14.
The government commenced pushkar ghat works and some of the officials and devotees had their doubts on the water availability in Godavari in July. It is expected that one crore pilgrims may take holy dip at Bhadrachalam during the 12-day event.
Tributaries of Godavari such as Penganga, Pranahita, Indravathi and Taliperu would receive water by the time of Pushkaralu. The records of water level at Bhadrachalam to Godavari river witnessed flood water several times in July.
K. Srinivasa Rao, an official in CWC said. “Water will be available in Godavari at Bhadra-chalam even in dry spell conditions. Taliperu and Indravathi would receive water with the small rain in Dandakaranyam. There is flood or normal water at least eight years out of 10 years in July month in Godavari at Bhadracha-lam. In case of dry spell, one or two tmcft water will be available at Taliperu project.”
